Check a quote against guide prices
Pick the job, say where the property is and type in the figure. You will see where it sits against the usual range for your region, with VAT on the same basis.
Choose the job and type the figure from the quote to see where it sits.
How the range is worked out
It is the guide price for the job, scaled by local labour rates for your region and shown with VAT, exactly as on the cost guides. A quote is "low", "typical" or "high" by where it falls between the bottom and top of that range. Outside it, a fifth further out counts as "well" below or above.
It is a guide, not a valuation. The range comes from published price guides, and your job may be bigger, harder to reach or specified differently from the one they assume. A quote outside the range is a reason to ask questions, not proof that it is wrong.
Why a fair quote can still look different
The commonest reason two prices look miles apart is that one of them quietly leaves something out: VAT, scaffolding, waste removal, or making good afterwards. Compare the scope line by line before you compare the totals, and ask each firm to say what is not included.
To weigh several quotes against each other, use compare quotes. If you want another price, choose a service and use its quote form. It is free and carries no obligation. We do not see the figure you type here.
Guide prices are indicative and are not a quotation. See how we price for where they come from and how the regional figures are worked out.
